Due to Magpies attacking models in flight, and on landing, we are suspending all flying at the club all of September and October. We hope to resume flying again November 2025.

Visited the field Sunday 5 Oct 2025 to observe magpie behaviour. The magpie was at the other end of the field - until I put my plane (in a box!) inside the fence. Then the magpie flew low and fast and aggressively towards me and at the last moment, rose steeply up into our 'club tree'. When I walked under the tree - without a plane - it swooped me aggressively. It didn't not bother with me very much when I walked out 30m with a plane over my head. Of course, I did not launch, but I think it is obvious what would happen. I only sighted 2 birds and believe the other bird was the chick.

Reminder to all - the field opens again in November so that means this weekend! It will be interesting to see how the Magpie feels about it...
